About the Doctors

Dr. Sharon A. Essner

Dr. Essner is the founder and one of the principal providers at The Smile Station. She has more than 20 years of experience and training in pediatric dentistry, and she has served as an associate attending in the Department of Pediatric Dental Medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center since 1990. She has been in practice on Long Island since 1989, and opened The Smile Station in July 2001.

An active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association, Dr. Essner has volunteered since 1995 at Christina’s Smile Children’s Dental Clinic, which provides dental care for needy children. She has received several awards in her field:

  • American Society of Dentistry for Children Award
  • New York Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award
  • Quintessence Book Award for excellence in restorative dentistry
  • Attending of the Year 1995-1996, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Department of Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Essner is board-eligible and holds a Doctorate of Dentistry degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She completed her advanced pediatric dentistry training and served as chief resident of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her specialized training included rotations in general anesthesia, intravenous sedation, oral surgery, and infant pediatric and adolescent medicine. Dr. Essner also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Dr. Essner served as clinical assistant professor in the Department of Children’s Dentistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. She has been published in “Quintessence Dental Technology,” a dental journal.

Dr. Ron Kosinski

Dr. Kosinski joined The Smile Station in September 2002. He has more than 2 decades of experience and training in pediatric dentistry, and he also serves as chief of pediatric dental medicine at Schneider Children’s Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. He also built a thriving private practice in Melville before moving his practice to the Smile Station.

Dr. Kosinski has served as an attending physician in the Pediatric Residency Training Program at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY. He also has served as an attending physician for the Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and as clinical assistant professor at the New York University College of Dentistry, Division of Growth and Developmental Sciences, in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Kosinski is a Diplomate of the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University and a Doctorate of Dentistry degree from the Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry.

Because of his continuing research and education in the area of pediatric dentistry, Dr. Kosinski has published several articles, including articles in consumer and peer-reviewed publications. He has made presentations at 19 dental and medical conferences, and he has served as a pediatric dentistry expert for NBC News Channel 4 in New York. He is also a member of several professional societies:

Dr. Keri Greene

Dr. Greene is The Smile Station’s orthodontist. She brings10 years of experience and training to The Smile Station, with special emphasis on new state-of-the-art techniques and pediatric/special needs patients.

Dr. Greene completed her advanced orthodontic training at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y. She also holds a Doctorate of Dentistry degree from New York University College of Dentistry and a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Greene’s research includes “A Study of Psychological and Socioeconomic Influences and Their Effects on the Timing of Orthodontic Treatment,” conducted at Montefiore Medical Center jointly with the Department of Orthodontics.

Dr. Greene has received several awards in her field, including:
